Ron
Olsen

Ron Olsen was born in 1943 and spent 1944 and
1945 at Marrianna Army Air Field, Florida where his dad
was based. The family settled in Medford, Oregon after
the war. By the mid 50s Medford was home to early air
tanker operators and as a teen Ron rode his bike to the
airport eventually taking a Kodak brownie.
After graduating from OSU, he and wife Linda lived in
Portland from 1965 to 1978 and that was the base for
photo trips to airfields in Oregon, Washington, BC,
northern California, and Nevada (including Reno 68 and
73). During this time he was a member of the AAHS and
traded photos with other members. The Olsen family with
3 children moved to their current Willamette valley home
in 1978.
Ron started his career at Hyster Co. in Portland as
an industrial engineer, then computer programmer,
systems analyst, and data processing manager. Retiring
from the Oregon Department of Revenue.
Ron and Linda spend time with their 3 grandkids each
week and Ron has several hobbies including scanning his
old slides and displaying them on ronsarchive.com and
Warbird Depot, plus a 1950 Chevy pickup, XK140 Jaguar
and 1965 Mustang.
