Two Hawker Hurricanes of the RAF Battle of Britain
Memorial Flight, LF363 and PZ865, caught in the air over Lincolnshire
flying back to their home base at RAF Coningsby on 27 September 2009.
They were being flown by Sqn Ldr Ian Smith (LF363) and Wg Cdr Ian Laing
(PZ865), in what was a rare opportunity to capture both in the air
together. |

NR683), this de Havilland D.H. 89A Dragon Rapide Mk.4 later saw service
as part of British European Airways making flights between England and
Ireland. Purchased by the late Bud Field in 1992, it was restored over
the years, making its first flight again in May of 2010 and is seen
being flown by Jimmy Rollison over Woodland, CA. |

total refurbishment by his company JEM Aviation. Several months before
this photo was taken the aircraft suffered an engine failure and force
landed into a riverbed. As can be expected the aircraft was badly
damaged but it is now happily flying again in the North Island of New
Zealand. |

Bob Coolbaugh’s 1911 Curtiss-Ely Pusher replica is seen
departing runway 18 at EAA AirVenture 2011. The Curtiss-Ely Pusher made
the first carrier landing on the deck of the U.S. Navy’s USS
Pennsylvania in San Francisco Bay on January 18, 1911, beginning the era
of Naval Aviation.
